Last month we flew from Manchester on the old First Choice plane and it was 2-3-2

I believe the new Thomson plane is 2-4-2

We are flying Emirates, but can someone pray tell, what has the premium on Thomson got compared to the likes of Emirates.

Do people think the upgraded seats are worth it. Must admit the wife wanted to give it a try but at £300 plus each I thought it was a bit expensive. We normally just pay for the two window seats.

I also don’t like the thought of paying all that money and then they can not guarantee you sit together.

From my point of view I would say yes. You get the quite part of the cabin, which allows sleep outbound. So you arrive fresh. I take your point about the 'non guarantee' of seats together, but we are always early birds to check in and have always managed to pick two on the side outbound at check in. It seems that these seats are then automatically allocated for your return trip. This may have just been luck, but thats the way it has worked. You also get that little extra baggage allowance. If your wife is like mine she takes about 15Kg of suntan, bite cream, shampoo etc & then leaves at least half of it there for the room boy. I try to explain they don't need sun cream but what can you do!

The last trip we used SriLankan Airways and they have a 'Premier Seat' now. for £50 (I think) you are between 'Business Class' and the entry door. The seats are pitched longer but still 2-4-2. But again it keeps the noise down. You get to pre book these, so again early doors gets you two on the side with luck. But the number is very limited, about 5 rows I think.

But as I said, if I use First Choice flights next time I would pay the extra and just check-in early, but always do that anyway. I hate a rush at the airport.

Just my view, it's your money you spend as you wish!

Thank you Richard. Them SLA seats use to be free. Sounds like they soon saw a money maker.

If I can ever get a deal with FC, I would give it some thought.

With Thomson now doing online seat reservations from 60 days, the chance of just turning up and getting a window are going to be even slimmer... Laughing

Never flown with them but they do not seem to get great reviews. At best average or ok. I am sure some will say they were fine or great but I am talking about an average.

How much is the upgrade?
